Missions Press has been printing free Gospel literature for the mission field since 1981. The Rice Principle is based on the story of a village in the Philippines which collected its extra rice to send a missionary to other villages. For over 20 years, the spare change of individuals has helped us to send tens of millions of “paper missionaries” all around the world.

Why Use the Rice Principle?

• Rice Principle boxes and labels for cans and water bottles are provided at no cost. There is no effect on your church budget.
• Rice Principle program does not interfere with normal church giving. Funds come from loose change, not tithing.
• Rice Principle is something the family can do together and teach the value of giving to God.

Easy to Use

Here is a quick guide to show you how the Rice Principle works:

• Place your order for Rice Principle boxes and labels about one month prior to distribution.
• Provide a box and/or label to every individual/family in your church.
• Set an ongoing date when the change will be collected. Some churches use a Missions Sunday when they place all the change in a large receptacle like a Sparkletts Water Bottle (we provide a label).
• Send us a check and all the funds will be used to help us print Gospel literature. We’ll send a receipt. All giving counts toward your denominational missions giving (for Foursquare churches), both for compliance and retirement.
